Firm behind redevelopment of Nottingham Forest stadium is confident of further expansion

The architecture firm behind Nottingham Forest's multi-million pound stadium redevelopment has reported a healthy rise in turnover after another successful year.

Officials at Benoy, based at Handley House in Newark, say the group and its associated businesses are now in a position to expand further, with one of its latest projects including developing a masterplan for a new capital city in Uzbekistan.

The group's financial results for the year ended December 31, 2018, show turnover increased to £52.4 million, an increase of £2.7 million on 2017.

Profit before tax in 2018, meanwhile, stood at £4.8 million, a dip on £5.5 million the previous year.

Graham Cartledge CBE, chairman of the global company, which employs 430 people, said: "Growth in revenues of six percent allowed us to further invest in both our IT infrastructure as well as our geographic presence as we seek to strengthen our south east Asian capability through our Singapore office.

"2018 saw us add a landscaping capability to the Handley House portfolio with the creation of our Uncommon Land business. This now allows us to offer a range of solutions from design solutions for the built environment, to wayfinding, graphic design and landscape.

"The businesses remain agile, enabling them to take advantage of opportunities, numerous collaborations and further expansion, and looks forward to continuing to deliver world-class projects designed by exceptionally talented staff in 2019 and beyond."

The redevelopment of Nottingham Forest's City Ground is among Benoy's most high-profile projects. When complete, the stadium will have an increased capacity of 38,000, a new Peter Taylor Stand and upgraded facilities throughout.

In June, Tom Cartledge, Benoy's CEO, confirmed the plans were progressing well as a series of public consultations got under way.

Mr Cartledge, a Forest fan, said: "The public consultations are brilliant and our design team receives all the feedback and considers how we can include as many of the ideas as possible.

"The design is progressing at pace and we all have a responsibility to ensure our forever home is world class.”
