Firm behind Michelin-starred Beach House in Oxwich expands with acquisition of Snowdonia destination hotel

South Wales hotel group Seren is taking over ownership of Penmaenuchaf Hall Hotel near Dolgellau in the Snowdonia National Park.

The company, which privately owns a group of hospitality venues in South West Wales including 5-Star Grove of Narbeth hotel, Coast Restaurant in Saundersfoot, and Michelin-starred Beach House Restaurant in Oxwich Gower, has said it will be taking over the hotel from 13 June.

The luxury 14-bedroom destination hotel, located at the foot of Cadair Idris mountain in Meirionnydd, is the firm’s first venture in North Wales as it looks to grow its number of venues across Wales.

The hotel group will take over the hotel from current owners Lorraine Fielding and Mark Watson.

Seren’s managing director Neil Kedward said: “In our minds, small has always been beautiful and our team intuitively knew that we’d found the right property as soon as we pulled up at the gates. Penmaenuchaf has that rare quality of being a luxury hotel that instantly makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The wonderful owners have created a truly warm and welcoming hotel and we hope to build on their success in the years to come.”

Mr Kedward added: “The hard work starts now for our team, as we search to fill key management roles in the hotel, with Lorraine and Mark retiring. The current hotel team already operates at a great level, and we look forward to working together with them to build on their success.

“Over the next few years, we’re planning significant refurbishments at the hotel, working alongside our friends and renowned interior designers, Martin Hulbert and Jay Grierson together with their brilliant team, to create an iconic Welsh country house hotel.”

Penmaenuchaf Hall is set in 21 acres of private grounds and woodland, offering views of the Mawddach estuary with opportunities for wild water swimming and sea trout and salmon fishing.

Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog and Machynlleth towns are also nearby with local links golf considered some of the best in Wales
