'Fireworks' What Ian Holloway said about Roy Keane's links with Millwall manager job

Ian Holloway believes Roy Keane would be an "interesting" appointment if he were named Millwall's new manager.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder and assistant manager has moved up to become the second-favourite with the bookmakers to take over from Neil Harris at the Den, following Harris' departure last week.

As of midday on Thursday, Keane was at 4/1 with Championship sponsors SkyBet, behind ex-Derby County and Stoke City boss Gary Rowett (1/1).

Holloway has his own experience of managing the Lions, taking charge between 2014 and 2015.

And the former Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers manager says he is undecided on whether a Keane-Millwall partnership would be a success or not.

"Roy Keane at Millwall. Wow. That would be interesting," said Holloway in an interview with the Sack Race.

"Most of the Millwall supporters are brilliant but they do have the odd one or two who can be pretty volatile.

"I can imagine Roy Keane would stand up to that, and for me that could cause fireworks, which would be great to watch.

"For Keane to go to Millwall, that would be a definite learning curve for him.

"The Roy Keane I know would be very outspoken, and I’m not sure that would go down very well. He says what he feels, but so do the Millwall fans. But who knows? It could work a treat.

"What I’m saying is would Roy fancy that, would he want to go to Millwall? I really don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see."

Keane's last job as manager came at Ipswich Town between 2009 and 2011, following a spell with Sunderland, with whom he is again being linked currently.

He has since worked as assistant to Martin O'Neill with the Republic of Ireland and Forest, as well as a stint as Paul Lambert's number two at Aston Villa.
