'Fireworks thrown' at home as police called to reports of 'disorder'

POLICE were called to reports of "disorder" after fireworks were thrown at a home in Argyll and Bute.

Officers received a report of a crowd gathering at a property at Buchanan Road in Helensburgh from 7.30pm on Monday.

Police said the crowd was initially peaceful but "descended into disorder", with fireworks thrown at a residential property.

The crowd then moved to the Johnson Court area of the town at around 10.40pm before dispersing a short while later.

Police made no arrests and there were no reported injuries.

Chief Inspector James McArthur said: "The disorderly behaviour that we saw last night was completely unacceptable.

"This incident continued until late at night, on a residential street and left members of our community frightened.

"Fireworks were thrown at a house that could have caused serious injuries to a member of the public.

"Anyone conducting themselves in a disorderly fashion or carrying out anti social behaviour will be dealt with with the full extent of powers available."

Anyone with information on this incident has been urged to contact 101 quoting reference 1827 of April 28.
