An elderly Dublin resident received the fright of their life when an explosive device was allegedly fired through their letterbox last night.
Heartless thugs posted a firework through the pensioner's door in the Palmerstown area just after 9pm.
The resident described the ordeal as a "very frightening experience" but was thankfully uninjured.
It's understood that the device was not lit when it was slotted into the house by the cruel pranksters.
A message alert was sent around to residents of the area last night warning them of the sick joke.
It said: "Did you see anyone around the area at 9.30pm?"
"An older resident had a firework put through the letterbox tonight.
"This type of behaviour can't be tolerated. We need to look out for our neighbours.
"Do you have CCTV or dashcam you could check?"
