More than 70 fires are still burning across the New South Wales coast with about 20 of those blazes out of control, according to the state's Rural Fire Service (RFS).
RFS Inspector Ben Shepherd said dry weather in the state's far south and mid-north coast had caused a higher fire danger.
"We continue to concentrate really on the far south coast and the mid-north coast as well because that's where the majority of our activity has been, it is just so dry out there," he said.
More favourable weather conditions are expected to aid firefighters and allow more controlled burn-offs to be conducted in vulnerable areas.
The Hunter, north west and the north coast are likely to be the worst affected by fires over the weekend.
"Lower winds, lower temperatures so a time to consolidate before possibly early next week when we'll see a return to very high fire dangers," Inspector Shepherd said.
"Monday at this stage is showing that it could potentially be another bad day.
"[There's] a lot of work to do over the coming days and while there's still no significant rain on the forecast we are going to have this issue of fires burning the landscape."
The RFS said this weekend was a good time for families and businesses in bushfire-prone areas to ensure their homes are prepared and they have a plan for the fire season.
