Fireflies launched a new feature called Talk to Fireflies. This turns its AI notetaker into an active meeting participant. It allows you to ask real-time questions, either about the meeting itself or the wider web, and get instant answers without leaving their video call.
Until now, Fireflies was primarily known for its automated meeting transcription and summarization capabilities. We have reviewed Fireflies and were really impressed with the tool. However, with this update, Fireflies becomes more interactive, allowing teams to clarify what was said, assign tasks, or even pull market data from the web.
The company has partnered with Perplexity, which will enable real-time web search during meetings. For example, a team could ask, “What are the latest trends in AI regulation in Europe?” and get a summarised, source-linked answer in the meeting chat.
Smarter Meeting Search Meets Smarter Web Search

Fireflies can answer questions like “Who mentioned the client deadline?” as easily as “What’s the difference between SAML and OAuth?” It does this by pulling from both the live meeting transcript and Perplexity’s real-time internet data.
If you want to use this assistant, then you have to simply give a “Hey Fireflies” voice command or by typing /ff followed by a prompt in chat. It also supports over 60 languages, which makes it usable across global teams. Apart from that, the AI can also tag action items, assign them to teammates, and bookmark key discussion points.
That’s not all the integration works both ways: where Perplexity users can ask questions about past meetings stored in Fireflies directly from their Perplexity dashboard.
Cross-Platform and Freemium-Ready
Talk to Fireflies is already available to all users, including those on the free tier. It works seamlessly across major video conferencing tools, including Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
As part of the launch, Fireflies and Perplexity are rolling out joint promotional offers. Fireflies Pro and Business users will get one year of Perplexity Pro for free, while Enterprise customers will get three months of Perplexity Enterprise Pro. On the other hand, Perplexity Pro users will get three months of Fireflies Business, with similar perks for enterprise users.
