Firefighters use pliers to cut potty off two-year-old girl's head

Firefighters were called after a potty got stuck on a two-year-old girl's head.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service sent one crew to a home in Melbourne Gardens, in South Shields, after the girl's mum dialled 999 when she was unable to free the youngster.

Pliers were used to remove the potty from the toddler, in just five minutes. The child was not injured.

The incident comes just weeks after firefighters used a hacksaw to remove a potty from a two-year-old boy's head in the Aldi store on Chichester Road last month.

A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "We were called out on Friday morning to a property in Melbourne Gardens to a report that a potty was stuck on a two-year-old girl's head.

"The mum had dialled 999 as she couldn't get the potty off and we dispatched one crew from South Shields.

"The crew used small pliers while comforting the toddler who was released with no injuries within five minutes."
