Firefighters urge students to stop burning their books

Firefighters have urged GCSE students to stop burning their books, after being called out to several incidents. Firefighterd urged youngsters to recycle their school books as they have been called out to numerous incidents.

Millions of 15 and 16-year-olds finished their exams earlier this month and broke up for an extended summer break. Book burning has become a tradition for many students finishing their exams where they celebrate leaving school by setting fire to their exercise books.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “There are better ways to finish your exams! We recommend donating, selling, or simply recycling any books you don’t want.”

Facebook users agreed with the firefighters and encouraging them to donate their books to charity or sell them online.
