Firefighters tackle 'deliberate' caravan fire next to M32

Firefighters were called to a caravan fire in Eastville next to the M32 on Easter Sunday.

The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate.

Fire crews from Temple and Bedminster were called to attend reports on a fire in Napier Road, shortly after 9pm on Sunday, April 12.

Police officers were also at the scene as firefighters tackled the blaze, which involved a caravan and four cylinders.

Video taken by witnesses show the caravan engulfed in flames next to the Shah Jalal Jame Mosque.

Avon Fire and Rescue has confirmed a structural engineer has been requested to assess any damage caused to the M32.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Crews from Temple and Bedminster fire stations were mobilised to reports of a fire.

"On arrival, firefighters found a fire involving a caravan and four cylinders.

"Crews used two breathing apparatus for safety, and one high pressure hose reel and two 45mm jets to extinguish the fire.

"Police were also in attendance and a structural engineer has been requested in daylight hours to assess the M32.

"The cause is thought to be deliberate."
