Crews were called to reports of a fire on Owen Street just after 7am.

The blaze is believed to have started inside a Deansgate Square tower block.

Police also attended the incident and say suspected drugs and cash were found.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

A number of fire engines responded to the incident and firefighters used jets and breathing apparatus to bring the blaze under control.
