Firefighters tackling blaze at the Red Lion pub in Prestwick

A fire has broken out at the Red Lion pub in Prestwick.

The blaze broke out at around 12.45pm this afternoon (Thursday) and three fire engines rushed to the scene.

Fire crews remain in attendance and the extent of the damage is not yet known.

The fire service say there are no reported casualties at this time.

A source said: "The Red Lion is on fire. I was passing in the car and it looked like the kitchen was on fire."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 12.43pm on Thursday, November 12 to reports of a building fire at The Cross, Prestwick, Ayrshire.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire.

"Crews remain in attendance.

"There are no reported casualties at this time."
