Firefighters have extinguished a large blaze that broke out inside a caravan at Port Stephens in the early hours of Wednesday.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to Fenninghams Island Road at Bobs Farm just after 2am where they found a caravan well alight.
The crews worked for more than an hour to stop the fire spreading throughout the caravan park.
No-one was injured, but several nearby caravans were damaged by heat and smoke.
The caravan that caught alight had a working smoke alarm, which prompted people in a neighbouring van to call triple zero.
Crews from the NSW Rural Fire Service were also on scene.
Superintendent Scott Dodson said the incident was a timely reminder of the importance of having a working smoke alarm.
"Only working smoke alarms save lives, it is important smoke alarms are checked often and replaced every 10 years and batteries replaced when required," he said.
"The risk of a fatality in a house fire is halved if the home has a working smoke alarm."
