Firefighters still at scene after businesses destroyed in devastating fire

Twelve fire engines were called to a fire at an industrial building on Stapleford Road, Trowell on Sunday, August 22.

The call came in at 00:50am as the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service raced to the scene.

At the height of the incident, there were two Aerial Ladder Platforms, a water bowser and a High Volume Pump.

Stapleford Road was closed in both directions but has now re-opened.

One fire engine from Arnold remains at the scene.

No injuries have been reported.

The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue team said the fire has been scaled down and they are still not aware of the cause.

They said a further investigation will take place either later today or tomorrow.

There will also be a fire crew around the area to offer reassurance to residents and answer any questions.

Richard Lee, Director of Y2 Plus, a warehouse unit affected by the fire, says all his stock has been destroyed.

He said: "We stock furnishes so coffee tables, chairs, it's all been destroyed.

"The business has been affected as everything is gone.

"We still don't know the reason for the fire.

"It spread throughout the unit and some of my neighbours have been affected."

The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service supported the team in managing the fire.
