One of south Manchester's main roads was closed following a blaze close to a firework shop.
Three fire engines were scrambled to Wilbraham Road in Chorlton at 5pm.
Witnesses described how firemen used an aerial ladder to get access to the fire which was said to be in the roof space of a domestic property.

Wilbraham Road was closed and bus services were diverted while the emergency services dealt with the incident
There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters were still at the scene by 7pm.
Eye-witnesses reported firefighters cutting through the roof tiles to get access to the blaze, which was said to be close to a firework shop.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At approximately 5pm on Tuesday 19 th October, three fire engines from Sale, Moss Side and Withington fire stations attended an incident on Wilbraham Road, Manchester, at a domestic property.
"Crews arrived quickly and assisted other emergency services to make the scene safe and extinguish the fire using specialist equipment.
"Fire crews have been on the scene for approximately two hours."
