FIREFIGHTERS have spent a second night tackling a blaze at a landfill site in Aberdeenshire, though the response has been scaled back.
The fire at Stoneyhill Quarry in Longhaven, near Peterhead, was first reported at around 3.10pm on Saturday.
Roads in the area were initially closed by police, though they reopened on Sunday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said four appliances remained at the scene on Monday morning, being assisted by a digger to move waste.
A spokesperson said: “There are still appliances there, they are still dampening down.
“A digger is there to assist with the removal of waste.
“That will be the case for the foreseeable today.”
Police have said the fire is not believed to be suspicious and there are no reported injuries.
