Firefighters save trapped donkey from field near Bristol

This is the moment firefighters rescued a stranded donkey from a field near Bristol today (Thursday).

Crews from Bedminsters and Patchway used specialist equipment to free Teasel after the animal became stuck in land on Gloucester Road, in Ridgeway.

It's believed the donkey became trapped in mud, although the fire service was unable to confirm.

Teasel was rescued from field (Avon fire and Rescue Service)

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 1.25pm. One crew from Patchway and two from Bedminster Fire Station were mobilised to reports an animal needed assistance on Gloucester Road, in Ridgeway.

"On arrival, crews used animal rescue equipment and a telehandler to assist the donkey.

"Once freed, they were passed back to their owner and vet."

Bedminster Fire Station tweeted: "Our animal rescue team assisted AFRSPatchway with the rescue of Teasel the donkey today, utilising our specialist skills and equipment.
