When the adorable Frenchie went missing inside his County Durham home, his owners were completely baffled as to where he could be hiding.

It's not the first time fire crews have been called to rescue pets who have found themselves in scary situations.

In December, firefighters saved Lucy the Spaniel lurcher cross after she tumbled down a disused mine shaft on Edmundbyers fell.

The 20-month-old dog was pulled 10 metres to safety by emergency crews at County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service.

In the same month, Sooty the cat had to be rescued from a house fire by crews in Consett.

The crew attended to reports of a kitchen fire at a cottage, where Sooty was still inside the property.

All family members, including Sooty, were brought to safety.
