Ten firefighters have been able to put out most of the flames.

Pictures show that large parts of the single-decker vehicle, which is part of the Colchri Ltd bus network, has been burnt out entirely as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for the transport firm said: "There were passengers on board just before the fire, but the driver escorted them off as soon as he noticed something wrong with the vehicle.

"Everyone was safely off the bus before the flames started."

One eyewitness told Glasgow Live that children at the nearby Rising Stars nursery had to evacuate the building.
