House on major Dublin road goes up in flames

Firefighters have rushed to a house fire on the N11 Stillorgan Dual Carriageway at Foxrock. The alarm was raised at 11:47am this morning and smoke is currently causing a hazard for drivers.

Two traffic lanes and a cycle lane are closed to allow Dublin Fire Brigade to fight the blaze. It is believed that the house is derelict with no injuries yet reported.

Three pumps, an aerial ladder and a water tanker were needed at the scene to help try bring the fire under control. Drivers are being urged to take care.

A DFB spokeswoman said: "Firefighters are at the scene of a domestic house fire on the N11 Stillorgan Dual Carriageway at Foxrock. Three pumps, and aerial ladder and a water tanker are on scene under the direction of a District Officer.

"The first calls were received at 11.47. Smoke is blowing across the road, and Firefighters have closed two traffic lanes and the cycle lane to allow for firefighting operations. It is thought that the house is derelict and at this point we are not aware of any injuries."

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire at a house on the Stillorgan Road, Co. Dublin, this afternoon, 18th August 2022.

"The fire has been extinguished by fire services and no injuries have been reported.

"No further information is available at this time."
