Fire crews rescued a man from the River Aire near Kirkstall Abbey this morning (Saturday).
The emergency services received reports from a member of the public that a man was in the river near to the abbey just before 7.30am.
West Yorkshire Police, along with the fire service, attended and the man was rescued from the river by firefighters.
Paramedics were also called and took the 53-year-old male to the Leeds General Infirmary where he is now recovering.
