Plumes of smoke billow over Scots street as crews tackle industrial estate blaze

Firefighters raced to a Fife Street this morning after reports of a blaze at an industrial estate.

Huge plumes of smoke billowed over Smeaton Road at around 12pm on Saturday after a fire broke out in two vans.

Locals reported seeing grey smoke filling the skies as crews battled the blaze for around one hour.

No injuries were reported.

A spokesman for the SFRS confirmed crew members used two hose reel jets to extinguish the van blazes.

He said “One appliance was dispatched to the scene after reports two vans on a fire at Smeaton Road at 11.24am.

“Officers used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets at the scene.

“We left the scene at 12.40pm.”
