Firefighters put out chip-pan blaze in high rise block of flats in Stockport

The fire service was called to a blaze involving a chip pan in a high rise block of flats.

Five crews were called to the scene, on Bosden Fold, near the centre of Stockport, on Tuesday evening.

It is not thought that anyone was injured.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a fire on Bosden Fold, in Stockport, at around 6pm on Tuesday, 15 September.

“Five fire engines, from Stockport and Offerton, and a hydraulic platform quickly attended the scene.

“The fire involved a chip pan in the kitchen of a flat in a domestic high-rise building.

"Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel, two smoke curtains and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

“Fire crews were in attendance for one hour and 15 minutes.”
