The London Fire Brigade insist that a fire on White Hart Lane will not impact Tottenham's Premier League clash with Southampton at 3pm this afternoon.
Spurs host the Saints in North London, as they seek to return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats in all competitions, but a blaze nearby has sparked fears that the clash could be affected.
12 fire engines and 80 firefighters were sent to the huge blaze at a warehouse in north London near the new Spurs stadium after emergency services were called at around 3:30am.
However, fans have been assured that the game will not be affected - although they have been advised to check their travel plans are not disrupted.
“Crews are making steady progress. They continue to work hard to contain the fire and have successfully stopped it spreading to other units," station manager Mark Jordan told the Evening Standard .
“For anyone attending the Tottenham vs Southampton football match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 3pm this afternoon, this incident will not affect play but it's advisable to check your route before travelling to the football ground due to road closures.
"Local residents are being advised to keep doors and windows shut due to the smoke from the fire as crews work to bring the blaze under control.
"The road is currently closed in both directions west of the A10 Great Cambridge Road to Rivulet Road."
Tottenham are preparing for a big week in their season as they aim to bounce back from an inconsistent start with Premier League clashes with the Saints and Brighton either side of a Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
