An electrical problem has been identified as the cause of smoke which prompted the evacuation of Blackpool Tower earlier today.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 10.20am this morning (December 12), when an alarm went off inside the landmark.
Six fire engines were scrambled to the scene and crews saw smoke inside the 158-metre tall seafront attraction, prompting a full evacuation.

But this afternoon the drama was coming to an end after the cause was discovered.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "Firefighters have identified the cause of smoke as being an electrical issues (sic) in the basement of a neighbouring property.
"Our crews will be making up their equipment and leaving the scene shortly."

Earlier there had been a full evacuation of the 125-year-old listed building, LancsLive reported this morning.
An investigation was launched.
Pictures from the scene showed people who had been evacuated on the promenade.

A spokesperson for the fire service said at the time: "We have six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform at the base of Blackpool Tower following reports of smoke in the building.
"There has been a full evacuation, no injuries have been reported and we are investigating where the smoke came from."
Crews remained at the scene until the fire service said just before 2pm that the operation was being ended.
The promenade remained open to traffic during the incident.
