Firefighters give safety advice after attending house blaze

Dublin firefighters tonight issued advice to householders after dealing with a house blaze.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation after crews from Kilbarrack and North Strand stations extinguished the fire.

They later tweeted: "Closing internal doors prevents smoke entering bedrooms.

"Firefighters from Kilbarrack and North Strand stations extinguished a house fire tonight. One person was treated for smoke inhalation."

Other general fire prevention tips in the home include not plugging too many appliances into an electrical outlet; making sure that combustibles are not too close to heaters, stoves and fireplaces; never smoking in bed or on soft furniture, and not using damaged or frayed electrical cords or extension cords.
