Firefighters extinguish blaze in derelict building

FIREFIGHTERS have worked through the night to extinguish a blaze in a derelict building.

At the height of the incident, seven fire appliances were at the scene in Speirsfield Gardens in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Emergency services were sent to the area when the alarm was raised at around 7.25pm on Tuesday.

People living nearby were advised to keep their windows and doors shut while firefighters dealt with the incident, and some roads were closed.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and the last appliance left the scene shortly before 7am on Wednesday.
