Firefighters deal with blaze at 'unofficial waste' site in Dublin

Firefighters have posted a plea about "unofficial waste collection" sites after three units were called to deal with a blaze in Clondalkin, Dublin.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted at 9.49pm today (Monday) that the incident to the west of the city happened last night.

It said: "Last night, three units were called to a large waste fire in #Clondalkin after smoke was reported over a wide area.

"Firefighters in breathing apparatus were able to extinguish the fire with assistance from a foam tender."

It added: "Unfortunately, unofficial waste collections normally end up on fire like this. Only use licensed collection services."
