Firefighters deal with arson attack on car in Bristol

Firefighters and police are investigating an arson attack on a car in Bristol overnight.

Crews from Avonmouth and Southmead fire stations were called to Mancroft Avenue in Lawrence Weston just before midnight late on Wednesday evening and found one car had already been torched and was well alight.

"Firefighters used one high pressure hose reel and small gear to extinguish the blaze and one firefighter wore breathing apparatus for safety," said a spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

"The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate," she added.

It is the latest car arson in Lawrence Weston and the presence of firefighters brought frustrated local residents out into the street to see the scene.

Back in February, police conducted door-to-door inquiries after a car was torched in nearby Long Cross, Lawrence Weston.
