Firefighters cut person from car after three-vehicle crash on the East Lancs Road

Firefighters cut a person from a car after a crash involving three vehicles on East Lancs Road .

The collision took place on the Liverpool-bound carriageway of the road at its junction with Mosley Common Road at around 8.50pm on Tuesday (November 5).

The smash involved three vehicles, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said.

It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone was injured or taken to hospital.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

The A580 is currently closed on the Liverpool-bound carriageway.

A GMFRS spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.51pm this evening to a road traffic collision on East Lancs Road at Mosley Common Road.

"The collision involved three vehicles.

"We have fire engines from Irlam and Agecroft in attendance and a technical response unit from Leigh.

"They are currently in the process of cutting someone from a vehicle."

In a tweet, police from GMP Leigh said: "We are dealing with a road traffic collision on the East Lancashire Road A580 junction with Mosley Common Road in Worsley.

"A580 Liverpool bound is closed at this time, please avoid the area and we will provide an update as and when we can."

Pictures taken of the collision show a large number of emergency service crews at the scene.

Debris from the smash can be seen strewn across the road.
