Firefighters called to woman who was stuck in mud at Wollaton Hall as she was trying to rescue dog

Firefighters were called to a woman who had become stuck in the mud after she tried to rescue her dog who had also got trapped.

Crews from Stapleford and Highfields fire stations were called to Wollaton Hall on Wednesday, December 18.

The woman had become marooned and was unable to free herself as she was up to her knees in mud.

She was released before the crews' arrival by staff from the hall and was not hurt.

A statement from Stapleford Fire Station said: "If your dog becomes stuck on ice or mud and needs help, don’t try and be a hero yourself.

"We understand that you’d want to rescue your fur baby, of course you would, but leave it to us.

"We’ve got the kit, we’ve got the training and can prevent you becoming trapped yourself."
