Firefighters called to Weston-super-Mare after crash

Fire crews were called to a major road in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday morning (July 27) after a crash between two motorists.

In a joint operation with Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Avon Fire and Rescue crews from Weston-Super-Mare attended the scene on Herluin Way - one of the busiest routes through the town.

It is believed that the incident took place at around 10am yesterday morning.

It has not yet been confirmed whether or not anyone was injured, however South Western Ambulance Service have been contacted for further information.

The road was closed temporarily whilst an oil spill was cleaned by firefighters from the surface of the road.

In a statement on Twitter, a spokesperson for Weston-super-Mare Fire Station said: "Crews from both pumps are attending an RTC by Hutton Moor leisure centre.

"We're currently cleaning a fuel spillage, apologies for any delays to your journey."
