Firefighters were called to rescue passengers stranded when a ferris wheel broke down at a Christmas market.

The ride halted at around 4.24pm on Sunday after a drive cable broke, leaving 16 children and 10 adults stuck above Bromley High Street.

The wheel was rotated manually to release passengers one at a time.

Barry Driscoll told the Standard: “Kids were perched high up, some without an adult in the carriage.”
