Firefighters called to gorse fire in Glencullen

Fire crews have been called to a blaze in Glencullen.

Three units from Dublin Fire Brigade responded to gorse and grass on fire on Sunday night (October 17), according to the brigade's official Twitter account.

Images of the scene showed a large blaze in a field, along with several fire engines and response vehicles on a nearby road.

In an update posted just before midnight, the brigade went on to warn that "fine fuels can dry out quickly making vegetation vulnerable to fire".

Glencullen is located in the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, in south County Dublin.

Due to its position on the slopes of Two Rock Mountain, the village is one of the highest in Ireland - approximately 300 metres above sea level.
