Firefighters called to flooding incident at Clifton property

Firefighters were called to a flooding incident in Clifton today (August 7) caused by a blocked drain pipe.

A crew from Temple Fire Station were called to a property in Windsor Terrace at around 6.34am this morning.

On arrival, firefighters isolated the electrics within the building and handed the property back to its owner.

A spokesman for Avon and Fire Rescue later confirmed the cause was a blocked drain pipe.

He said: "At 6.34am, one fire crew from Temple were called to  a flooding incident caused by a blocked drain pipe at a property in Windsor Terrace in Clifton.

"On arrival, firefighters isolated the electrics before handing the property back to the owner."

A yellow weather warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms is in place later this week.

The Met Office warning covers much of the country and is in place from 12am to 11.59pm on Friday (August 9).

The weather agency says a band of heavy rain, followed by heavy showers or thunderstorms, has the potential to bring disruption.
