Firefighters called to early morning incidents in Bradford and Morley

Crews from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to two separate fires in the space of 20 minutes early on Wednesday morning.

The first callout came around 3:23am, when emergency services were summoned to deal with a garden fire that had reportedly spread to a property nearby in Sandholme Drive, Bradford.

Fire engines from Shipley and Bradford attended the scene and tackled the blaze using two hose reels. Four crew wore breathing apparatus to deal with the smoke and flames.

And at 3:43am, firefighters were called to a fire 11 miles away, at the Windsor Court shopping centre in Morley, where an opticians store was reported to be ablaze.

Two firefighters donned breathing apparatus to tackle the fire and extinguished it with a single hose reel. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said appliances attended from Hunslet and Morley stations.
