Ceiling collapses in Bristol city centre

Firefighters were called to a collapsed ceiling in the city centre yesterday morning (June 17).

Crews from Temple were called to St George's Road on Monday after receiving reports a ceiling had collapsed.

After arriving at around 2.30am, firefighters dismantled the ceiling and carried out a search to make sure there were no people trapped underneath.

Avon Fire and Rescue has confirmed there were no casualties as a result of the collapse.

A spokesperson for the service said: "Two crews from Temple fire station were called to a suspended concrete ceiling that collapsed.

"On arrival, firefighters used a disc cutter and small gear to dismantle the ceiling.

"They also used a thermal imaging camera and snake eye camera to carry out a search of the scene.

"They confirmed there were no casualties."
