Firefighters called to Bristol flats as blaze 'caused by solar panel'

A fire in an Arnos Vale flat is thought to have been caused by a solar panel.

Firefighters from Temple, Hick's Gate, Bedminster and Southmead fire stations attended the Paintworks apartments off Bath Road at around 6pm today (April 15).

Incident Commander Mark Taylor said: “We were called to a small fire in a loft space which we believe to have been caused by a solar panel.

"The fire is now out and we are trying to salvage as much as we can from the loft. They had sprinklers but fire crews entered with breathing apparatus."

The Paintworks website says there are 331 homes and 26 "live/work units" at the site.

The homes "vary in style from lofts converted from old paint factory buildings to newly built apartments and houses".
