Firefighters called to blaze in Shirehampton house

Firefighters rushed to a house fire in Shirehampton this morning (December 19).

Crews from Temple, Bedminster and Portishead were called to the property in Beachley Walk shortly after 9am.

A fire had broken out in a first floor bedroom - crews remained on the scene two hours later.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "At 09:09, crews from Temple, Bedminster and Portishead fire stations were mobilised to reports of a fire on Beachley Walk in Shirehampton.

"On arrival, firefighters found a fire on the first floor bedroom and four breathing apparatus, one high pressure hose reel and one 45mm jet to extinguish the fire.

"They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.

"The cause is thought to be accidental."

It is thought that the house was deserted before the house fire broke out.
