Firefighters called to blaze in Long Ashton fish and chip shop

Firefighters were called to attend reports of a fire in a fish and chip yesterday evening (Saturday, May 2).

The blaze began in the basement of Piccolo's Fish & Chips in Long Ashton on Saturday, and was dealt with by two crew members from Bedminster fire station.

Pictures taken from the scene show the firefighters on the roof of the building and the extraction fan in the basement where the fire started.

Avon Fire and Rescue has confirmed there were no injuries as a result of the fire.

A fire service spokesperson said on Twitter: "Fire in takeaway shop in Long Ashton this evening.

"Fire in extraction fan in basement. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus dealt with the fire using one big hose and one small hose.

"No casualties."
