Firefighters called to another blaze at derelict former pub near Newcastle Quayside

A former pub gutted by fires suffered another blaze inside the derelict building.

Firefighters were called out to the former Stereo and Barley Mow pub on City Road in Newcastle on Saturday evening after another fire broke out.

Three fire engines and two officers were called to the scene near to the Quayside just after 6.50pm.

Some rubbish inside the building was on fire and had to be extinguished by the crews.

While the emergency services were on the scene they asked the public to avoid the area.

The derelict building was already severely fire damaged after with an exposed roof.

A fire in 2011 gutted the three-storey building and destroyed the roof as well as the top floor.

Firefighters also dealt with a blaze at the premises in 2015.

Stereo was an award-winning bar before it closed in 2010 and has remained unoccupied since.

The crews left just after 7.30pm on Saturday after the fire was put out.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
