Firefighters called out to mountainside grass fire in Kilvey Hill, Swansea

A grass fire on a mountainside in Swansea could be seen for miles around as firefighters battled for more than four hours.

The fire brigade were called to the blaze on Kilvey Hill at around 4.19pm on Monday after receiving reports from members of the public.

A spokeswoman from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Swansea Central and Swansea West attended the scene where five hectares of land were affected.

Writing on Twitter, a Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service account said: "Fire crews are dealing with a fire on Kilvey Hill this evening rendering them unavailable for other emergencies. A property fire occurred at the same time. Please help us stop unnecessary fires."

The fire was out at around 8.40pm and crews are no longer being present at Kilvey Hill.

The cause of the fire is not being investigated but it is believed to be a case of arson.
