Firefighters called in to rescue man with hand stuck down the back of his sofa

Firefighters were called out to rescue a man after he got his hand stuck down the back of his sofa.

One embarrassed Brit might have been fishing for spare change or looking for a lost remote control on the night of August 23 when they ended up in the unusual incident in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire.

The man was so stuck he was forced to ring in the fire brigade who attended the incident.

The emergency workers were able to free the man's hand without injury and only some “slight reddening”.

Stapleford Fire Station took to Facebook to reflect on the strange night time call.

More used to terrible blazes and deadly fires, it might have been a nice change of pace for them.

They wrote: “An unusual incident for us last night. Where we were called to a report of a male with his hand trapped down the back of a sofa.

“Firefighters were able to free the man, who had slight reddening to his hand. “

Firefighter Gavin Wilson who attended the incident said: “It really isn’t just fires, I am pleased we were able to help the male without hurting him further or damaging his sofa.

"We will revisit him later today, make sure he is ok and complete a safe and well visit.”
