Firefighters called in to rescue child who got their head stuck in a chair

Parents were forced to call firefighters in after a youngster in Sunderland got their head stuck in a chair.

The unnamed child wasn't hurt - but one can only imagine there must have been a few red faces in that household after the incident on Saturday night.

The family called 999 when they discovered they were unable to release the child from the back section of a wooden chair.

Firefighters armed with a hand saw were, luckily, able to get them free.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday night tweeted: "A crew from our Sunderland Central station have assisted with a child who had managed to get their head stuck in the back of a wooden chair.

"Crews used a hand saw to create sufficient space in the chair for the child to be released, unharmed."

They added hashtags 'not just fires', and, appropriately 'oops'.
