Firefighters battling large fire at recycling centre

Smoke can be seen billowing for miles as several fire crews tackle a blaze at an industrial site in Pembrokeshire.

The fire is believed to have broken out at around midday at a wood recycling centre near Carew Car Dismantlers.

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said five pumps were sent to the scene, at the Carew Airfield site in Tenby.

A high volume pump, thermal imaging equipment and six hose reel jets have been used to fight the fire, which is still ongoing.

A mechanical digger has been damaged and a large quantity of wood has gone up in smoke, but no-one has been injured.

Richard Cain Roberts posted several pictures after seeing the smoke covering the area.

He said a large amount of wood was well alight, and the fire crews were having to fill up with water from the main road pumps.
