FIREFIGHTERS have worked through the night tackling a blaze at a quarry in Moray following a spate of deliberate fires in recent weeks.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Sunbank Quarry near Lossiemouth at around 7.20pm on Thursday following a report of a fire at the premises.
At the height of the blaze six appliances were at the scene and two fire engines were still there at 6.30am on Friday.
Nearby residents have been advised to keep windows closed and drivers have been asked to avoid the area.
Police said the A941 was closed in both directions between the B9103 and the B9135 while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The fire at the quarry on Thursday night followed several other blazes in the area since August 22, many of which are believed to be wilful.
