Two people have been taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a commercial property in a Perth industrial area.

The alarm was raised about 9:30am after reports of explosions at the Rowe Street property in Malaga.

Firefighters arrived to find the front of the property fully engulfed in flames and plumes of thick black smoke surrounding it.

St John ambulance Area manager Murray Allum said a man in his 30s who was working at the premise had sustained serious burns, and another man had suffered minor injuries.

Both were taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital.

It's not known how the fire started.
