Firefighters battle late night blaze at Scots pharmaceutical plant

Fire crews battled a blaze at a Scots pharmaceutical plant last night.

Emergency services raced to GSK in Irvine around 7.45pm on Wednesday evening after a fire activation system raised the alarm.

Four appliances attended the blaze as fire fighters battled the inferno.

No one was injured in the fire and crews left after making the scene safe.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 7.45pm on Thursday, July 7 we were alerted by a fire activation system from a commercial property at Shewalton Road, Irvine.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire within a site building.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
