Firefighters are trying to cut someone from a car following a crash in Cheetham Hill.

The smash, involving two vehicles, happened on Cheetham Hill Road just after 9.20am on Friday.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the incident.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.22am. We are currently at the scene.

"We have sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.

"There is a patient trapped. The fire service are also at the scene."

The spokeswoman said two people are thought to have been injured.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called to reports of two vehicle collision at 9.23am at the junction of Cheetham Hill Road and Huxley Ave.

"Vehicles involved were Black Honda Civic and Silver BMW. Emergency services at scene.

"Enquiries ongoing."

Cheetham Hill Road northbound has been closed.

The road is closed from Queens Road to Bellott Street.
