Fired LA Times editor gets top NY Times job

The Los Angeles Times editor who was fired for refusing to cut jobs has been named as Washington bureau chief of the New York Times. Dean Baquet left the LA Times in November in a dispute with the paper's corporate owners, Tribune Co, who were pushing staff reductions that Baquet contended would hurt the quality of the paper.
